Description
For the material samples after the process of grinding and polishing by flat grinding machines. The gloss of this surface must be high gloss with low tolerance, for the most accurate determination of the gloss and flatness value of the specimen the fastest method of assessment is to use the Engis gloss meter. This gloss meter works on monochromatic light source (FMD) and optical flatness
The Engis FMD gloss meter offers advantages over traditional monochromatic light sources such as
– Easy to move, durable, affordable
– Use power source (110/220V AC)
– Provides green light for easier visibility, reduces eye strain compared to helium lamps
– High Contrast
– Lighting angle 60°
– Available in different sizes depending on the model
– Available in FMD-16 (10×12) and FMD-30 (11×17) sizes
Instructions for using a monochromatic light source gloss meter
– Place the polished sample inside the instrument, bringing the surface to be analyzed up
– Place the optical flat on the surface to be analyzed
– Observe on the sample surface through the optical flat plate will see black stripes
– In an area where the stripes are more even and parallel to each other, the area will have good flatness and shine. On the contrary, the area with non-parallel, distorted or no stripes indicates that the surface in that area is not satisfactory.
- Even straight lines and parallel waves show that the surface has been polished well
