Description Ametek Versitron

The Versitron Series is a unique hardness testing system which provides its users with the benefit of the top-loading and test surface referencing technology. Applying both the pre-load and full load in one test cycle makes it possible to perform a test in as little as 4 seconds!

This hardness testing machine is ideal for applications ranging from high volume to sampling, from production floor harsh environments to the lab and from testing awkward shaped parts to precise small part testing applications.

The clamping ability is an inherent part of this Rockwell hardness tester and provides the user with the ability to clamp and hold parts in place prior to testing with up to 240 foot pounds (325 Nm). By clamping instead of using jack screws or cutting specimens, the test accuracy is improved and the testing time is decreased.

The removable clamping shield protects the diamond indenter from being struck by the specimen during handling and when test samples are clamped the indenter is protected from damage resulting from test samples shifting under load.

The Versitron features test-surface referencing. Test surface referencing immediately surrounding the indenter is an indenter shroud. The purpose of the shroud is to sense the position of the indenter relative to the test surface when the preload has been applied. Should the test specimen deflect under major load, the shroud travels with the test surface to compensate by maintaining that precise reference position with the test surface, so the test result will remain accurate. The error resulting from deflection can be eliminated or substantially reduced as the test results are not sensitive to dirt. A hair under a test block will completely ruin most testers’ results but the Versitron remains accurate. And situated in good environments it requires less cleaning and maintenance.

The Versitron hardness tester features a full color, icon driven display that facilitates easy intuitive navigation. Test results are shown in a large font size making them easy to read. The display is dirt and oil resistant and is easily cleaned. The BT130 interface is designed to last in even the harshest environments.

With only a few buttons to push you are offered an easy access to histograms and statistical summary reports with an optional printer.

The Versitron hardness tester can take on heavy duty work while at the same time offering its users easy access to on-screen test results, such as x-charts, ranges and min/max, during the test. The Versitron is build to last in even the harshest environments.

The Versitron hardness testing machine is known as the “Industry Workhorse”, as earlier models have lasted for more than 30 years and is still running smoothly.

The entire load system is modular and self-contained within the test head. The test head can easily be exchanged to measure different Rockwell scales.

Versitron hardness testers can have different types of drive options from the standard level actuated drive, pneumatic drive or electric drive. Electric and pneumatic drives can be controlled with either a pushbutton or footswitch.

Test results can be exported directly to DataView for further analysis or as a CSV file.

The Versitron hardness testing system is CE marked and complies with ASTM E-18, DIN, EN, ISO and other applicable standards.

Accessories

AT/5309 Diamond Spot Anvil Provides controlled deformation for testing soft or thin metals where the
anvil effect is assumed.
AT/5310 2” Diameter Flat Anvil For testing of parallel face specimens.
AT/5311 Spot Anvil For testing against small areas or confined spaces.
AT/5312 Shallow Vee Anvil For testing small cylindrical specimens.
AT/5313 Wide Vee Anvil For testing cylindrical specimens.
AT/5318 Set of 3 Small Anvils For small parts testing. Includes flat, spot, and round anvils and anvil adapter.
AT/5319 Flattened Vee Ball Anvil Test parts with tapered or non-parallel faces can be tested quickly and
accurately with this anvil. The flat face is rotated to take up the taper on the
underside of the test piece, while the test surface is clamped perpendicular to the indenter.
AT5319V Flattened Ball Anvil with vee for testing tapered rounds.
AT/5322 Anvil Adapter to fit 3/4” post
diameter anvils
Standard or special anvils built for conventional hardness testers can be adapted to the Versitron®
by reducing the spindle hole diameter.
